Forms 3 - 4. It's Interesting to Know... Ukraine

For students of the third and fourth forms.
                                                                          Ukraine
Ukraine is a large country in Europe. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine.     There are 47 million people in Ukraine. (Ukraine has a population of 47 million people). 72% of Ukraine’s population are Ukrainians.
The state language is Ukrainian.
The National Flag first appeared in 1848. The flag has two stripes: a blue one above a yellow one. The colours are symbolic – yellow for wheat in the fields and blue for the sky above them. The flag became a symbol of all-Ukrainian unity.
The Ukrainian Anthem is a song called “Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished”.
The National Emblem (Coat of Arms) of Ukraine is a trident.
The Dnipro is the longest river in Ukraine. The Black Sea is deep and has a wide range of animal life. Ukraine has more than 3,000 lakes.

Pysanka is the traditional Ukrainian Easter egg. In the Ukrainian town of Kolomyia, there is a pysanka museum, the only museum of this kind in Ukraine.
