Forms 3 - A, 4. Grammar Box. Past Simple: wasn't / weren't (Negative Sentence)

For students of the third (3-rd) and fourth (4-th) forms.

Grammar Box 
           Past Simple: wasn't / weren't
            (negative sentences)    
 We use was and were in negative sentences.

     Negative 
Long form                Short form
was not                   wasn't
He / She / It was not                He / She / It wasn't
You / We / They were not          You / We / They weren't

wasn't at school yesterday.
wasn't well last week.


He / She wasn't at home yesterday evening.
It wasn't rainy yesterday.
We weren't at the circus last month.
You weren't at the seaside last summer.
They weren't at the library two days ago.

We use wasn't and weren't with There.
There wasn't  any  coffee in the cup.
There weren't lots of schools in the town.
